Astralis beat NV, FaZe destroy E

Astralis moved past EnVyUs 16-11, while FaZe demolished E-frag.net 16-5 in the first round of Group B matches at IEM Katowice.

Day two of IEM Katowice began with a mouth-watering clash between Astralis and EnVyUs, two of the favorites in this group, on de_train. The Danish team got off to a flying start and took the first eight rounds to immediately put EnVyUs in danger of getting blown out.

After calling a timeout, EnVyUs finally managed to get a round on the board, courtesy of a triple kill from Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire, but Astralis replied right after to reset the Frenchmen's economy. After losing a couple more rounds, the French team were finally able to string two rounds together, the first of which due to a quad-kill from Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey, who was finally starting to show his true level after a poor start to the game.

Astralis pick up a crucial win 

Down 3-12, EnVyUs picked up the pistol round and the following anti-eco, but Astralis regained control of the game after buying up and brought the scoreline to 14-6. Even as EnVyUs rallied to take the next five rounds, the map looked to be in Astralis' favor, and a timeout was just what they needed to get those last two rounds and secure a victory.

The other group match, featuring FaZe and E-frag.net, was a one-sided affair from the get-go as the former Kinguin and G2 team picked up a 16-5 victory after taking a commanding 11-4 half-time lead, with Philip "⁠aizy⁠" Aistrup and Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard topping the scoreboard for the European mixture.
